Dear Brothers and Sisters,

It is with great pleasure that I announce the 8th annual 3rd District "Robert Morton Golf Invitational". The event will take place on September 11th, 12th and 13th. This year's lodging and banquet will be at a new location, the Crown Reef Resort, which is in Myrtle Beach at 2913 South Ocean Blvd. The accommodations are the standard rooms and all have balconies. Golf play will be in a scramble format with a handicap calculation to even the field. Each round gets added to achieve a cumulative total. Full teams can enter and any individuals will be teamed up to keep the teams as evenly balanced as possible. Please indicate your average golf score when you send in your deposit money. This event will include 3 rounds of golf starting Thursday afternoon. The 2nd round will be on Friday morning and the final round on Saturday morning. To add to the challenge, each round will be played on a different course. We will conclude this event with an awards Banquet on Saturday night. We will have entry prizes along with the customary "Closest to the Pin" and "Longest Drive" awards. Place prizes will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place.

The accommodations (Golf Package) will include 3 nights in a Hotel Suite, 3 breakfasts, 3 rounds of Golf, Banquet Dinner, all state taxes, all local taxes and resort service fees. As is customary with this event, all prices are charged on a PER PERSON basis. The following rates have been established for the Sons of Norway at this event:

ALL reservations and payments for the package will be handled through me, therefore all checks and questions should come to me. All payments for additional nights and golf will be paid directly by you to the Hotel, however I will coordinate the reservations and tee times. If you call the resort to make your reservations, it will only confuse matters. Deposit requirements are more than in previous years. They will be $150.00 per person and must be in my hand by July 9th. The balance of all monies must be paid by the 10th of August. Arrangements have been made to utilize the use of charge cards for the charging of the balances due, however I encourage all to pay your balance by check before the deadline, as the credit card processing is very time consuming for me to insure all charges are made correctly. Credit card transactions must come through me as well. If you call the resort directly and make any charges, it will only confuse matters and create more work to unravel it all.

All $150.00 deposits must be in check form, sent to me by the deadline. I have a block of rooms and they will be held until I release them. After August 11th the resort will continue to take reservations on a space available basis only. This facility is on the beach and September starts the busy golf season. Do NOT put off making your reservation if you want to be part of this tournament. In addition to the golf package, there is a Tournament Fee of $50.00 for each golfer.

There are many things to enjoy at Myrtle Beach besides golf. There are many places to visit as well as good restaurants and nightlife. We have all enjoyed our time off the golf course in the past, as much as the golf. The Banquet will be held at the same facility. If anyone you know plans to attend only the banquet, and is not participating in the balance of this event, they need to contact me ahead of time, RSVP and mail me a check for dinner. The cost of a single dinner will be $38.00.

Checks for accommodations should be made out to "District Lodge #3 S/N". Please make out a separate check for the tournament fees of $50.00 payable to "Keith Lavin". This money will be used to purchase the prizes and awards. If you have any questions, please call me anytime.
